“A girl with confidence is a girl with a future.”
And periods should never stand in the way of a girl’s confidence or her future.
However, the reality is different.
Period poverty is still an unspoken crisis in Nigeria.
According to UNICEF, 1 in 10 girls in Nigeria miss school because they lack access to menstrual products or proper sanitation.
Period poverty is more than a girls’ health issue.
It’s a matter of young girls’ dignity, equity, and opportunity.
The Flow With Confidence campaign, an initiative championed by the First Lady of Nigeria, is designed to break this cycle.
As we approach World hashtag MenstrualHygieneDay, my office is proud to support the Flow With Confidence Campaign in distributing ‘The Period Care Kit’ to some local communities in Abuja.
This is a powerful reflection of our collective commitment to ensuring that no girl is held back by her period, and that menstrual health is treated as a matter of dignity, equity, and national importance.
So, what’s inside The Period Care Kit?
👉🏿 A reusable, eco-friendly sanitary pad locally and sustainably made by Sussflow Reusable.
👉🏿 A gentle handwash to ensure hygiene and safety.
👉🏿 A soft towel for freshen-ups, glow-ups, and everything in between.
👉🏿 A refreshing deodorant because our bodies deserve care, every day of the cycle.
👉🏿 And a toiletry bag to keep it all handy—whether at school, at home, or on the move.
The Period Care Kit will be distributed to schoolgirls in underserved regions across Nigeria, beginning in areas where period stigma and lack of access are highest.
Each kit represents our unwavering belief that every girl deserves to manage her period with dignity, confidence, and support.
This effort is anchored in the wider mission of Women’s Health Nigeria and the national ‘Healthy Women, Healthy Nation’ advocacy campaign under it—to restore dignity, raise awareness, and give girls the confidence to show up for their future every single day.
It’s only the beginning.
